Banbury Colts opened their season campaign with a comfortable win against Chinnor on a blustery Sunday afternoon at Bodicote Park. The teams were equally matched for the 1st 10 minutes, but a great kick chase from Louis Baker secured the ball to release Toby Fisher who with blistering pace who ran 60 metres to score the opening Banbury try, which was converted by Ollie Farr. Banbury maintained dominance in the forward exchanges with powering runs from Dan Rodda and Ollie Davis causing the Chinnor defence all sorts of problems. With Banbury playing into the wind and pressuring the Chinnor line the forwards broke down the blind side for Dan Rodda to crash over for the next score... soon after Lewis Wheeler found him self at the back of ruck on the Chinnor line, who picked up to to dive over for Banbury’s 3rd try.. Banbury 17 Chinnor 0 at half term. The second half was a reflection of the 1st and it was only indiscipline and execution that thwarted further gains for the home side. Probably the best try of the game was a 5 metre line, Lewis Wheeler won at front, tapped to Dan Rhodda who looper around the front, fed to Hooker James Churchill who the produced the final pace for flanker Ben Brock who supported to score, brilliant execution!! Try’s came later for George Uzolins and Ollie Farr for Banbury to finish 36-0 winners.
This was a great team performance as it’s the first time this team have come together.. a really encouraging start to the season
