Our first game saw ONs arrive with a sizeable squad of 21; allowing for two games of 12 and 9 players respectively.
With a number of new joiners and returning players (welcome back Ollie and Jacob), the squad will return to potentially fielding two teams.
All four games saw ONS use their size to good advantage. Whilst Banbury maintained a strong defence for the majority of the playing time, breaks in the defensive line proved costly. Despite resilient tackling through the majority of the squad (shout out to Dominic and Ollie) individual lapses of concentration or structure were unlocked.
In attack, Banbury used a mixture of awareness, speed and power (special mention to Joe Hemmings). Banbury's continued use of fast ball earned good ground but a number of tries were lost (or intercepted and a score reversed) through a lapse in concentration.
Back to training on Wednesday and refocus on individual skills, which are proving to be the unpicking of a well balanced and competitive Banbury side.
Towcester Festival next and with one team entered, this side will be picked on the ON performance.
