Steve Mascall’s heroes really turned on the style last night to produce a match of end-to-end excitement in the Oxfordshire Floodlit Cup for veterans. Looking at the photo its hard to believe some of these chaps are over 35 years old.

Suggestions that significant gaps opened up in the second half to facilitate easy scoring opportunities are a tad unkind to both sets of warriors. However some observers were overheard to saying they thought they were at a tennis match rather than a rugby game!

Banbury ran out worthy 48 – 31 winners with a bevy of scintillating tries. Sadly no ones eyesight is good enough anymore to have identified the scorers…..

Banbury now progress to the semi-final which we believe will be held at the historic Iffley Road Stadium in Oxford. The date and time will be confirmed in due course.
