In an exhilarating exhibition of running rugby The Bulls ran in ten tries in demolishing their opponents. Alex Caviezel Cox (pictured) led the way with a well-taken hattrick, whilst evergreen No 8 , Simon Brand weighed in with a brace.
It did not take long for the Bulls to open the scoring when Eddie Phillips fielded a clearing kick and running the ball back evaded would be tacklers to put Brand in for the try. With the Bulls looking dangerous with ball in hand and exerting pressure when not in possession the lead was increased when an Old Yardleian kick was charged down and good handling allowed Caviezel Cox to score in the corner.
Creating numerous line breaks the Bulls, despite playing into the wind, were well in control and the alert John Fox was next to score when he was first to a loose ball over the visitors try line after Carl Daniels had been stopped just short.
Caviezel Cox, showing exceptional pace in a run from his own half, and Sam Ridgway added to the tally, and although the Old Yardleians did manage to get on the scoreboard with a try from James Hendrick, converted by Carl Bucknall the Bulls held a commanding 29-7 lead at the break.
Banbury continued to exert near total control and whilst errors began to creep in due mainly to over ambition, tries continued to flow. Caviezel Cox completed his hattrick, again showing good pace, whilst Andy Collett, Joe Mills, Phillips and Brand all crossed with Phillips adding three conversions.
The game meandered somewhat in the closing stages not helped by a rash of yellow cards which disrupted the flow of the game, but the Bulls can only be pleased with their exciting brand of rugby.
