Captain Sean Bannister and wing Jed Boyle each bagged a brace of tries as Banbury Bulls won 39-3 at Northampton Old Scouts at Bodicote Park on Saturday.
The solid display keeps Banbury six points clear the top – although they have played two more games than nearest rivals Market Harborough.
The result seemed sealed by half time as the Bulls had stretched out to a 25-3 advantage thanks to flanker Bannister’s double and a try from scrum-half Grant Holmes. Centre Mike Smith added the extra points from two conversions and two penalties.
Boyle then finished off two second half tries which were both converted by Smith who had an excellent day with the boot. Strong Banbury defence prevented them from conceding anything but one penalty kick despite flanker Darren De Bruyn being sin-binned due to an infringement at a ruck.
