Bulls find their rhythm at Home

The Bulls have their fourth outing of the season with another new club in Silhillians The former Regional 2 Midlands side visited The Graf.

The match started with a bang, albeit a scrappy start, the Bulls took their chance with an excellent line break with Tommy Gray picking a pass to Quinten Blythe who crossed for the Bulls’ first points of the afternoon. The conversion was successful [7-0]. Moments later, the visitors seized their opportunity by sneaking into the corner to bring up their first points of the afternoon. The conversion was unsuccessful [7-5]. In an immediate change in fortune, the visitors then saw yellow, going down to fourteen for a late tackle. The Bulls made the most of the numerical advantage by Blythe securing his second of the afternoon. All stemming from an excellent break from Quade Leo, he drew the last man before delivering a perfectly measured offload to put Blythe in who was on the outside of him. The conversion was successful [14-5]. Almost straight after scoring the Bulls have their third, this time Dan Hale. From a brilliant move from the backs, they exploit the space with the man advantage down the left side before touching down under the posts. The conversion was successful [21-5]. Just like a London bus, moments later another try came along. James Leonardi doing the honours this time. From a Bulls kick to the corner following a penalty for a high tackle, the forwards gathered at the lineout before executing a perfect drive over to secure the fourth score of the afternoon. The conversion was successful [28-5].

After a scrappy start for the Bulls, it turned into the perfect half. With the Bulls finding their rhythm their style of play flowed. It was all set for the second half if the Bulls could but this match to bed starting as they left off from the first half.

Half Time - Banbury 28-5 Silhillians

The second half started just as the Bulls left off. From a fantastic break, Gus Stapleton secured the fifth try of the afternoon for the Bulls. Through a great break from Blythe the Bulls quickly made up ground and two offloads later Gus was put in to score. The conversion was unsuccessful [33-5]. It was the turn of the visitors next. Straight after conceding the Silhillian forwards nicely came together to dot down in the corner. The conversion was missed [33-10]. With the match settling both teams enjoyed spells with the ball but with little outcome. This all came to a halt from the lineout when Kelvyn Togia crashed over from an excellent catch and drive from the Bulls forwards in the clubhouse corner. The conversion was unsuccessful [38-10]. The Bulls' forwards were on point again shortly after when Blythe secured his hat-trick try of the afternoon. In an excellent performance, he weaved in and out with excellent footwork passing through the visitor's defence to deliver the seventh try of the afternoon for Banbury. The final quarter of the match saw the final try of the afternoon for the Bulls. This came by way of an excellent hit by Matt Dandy dislodging the ball in the tackle, which was brilliantly gathered by Banbury's backs and given onto Stapleton who touched down for his second in the clubhouse corner.

On a fantastic afternoon at the Graf, the Bulls grew as the game went on and scored some lovely tries to secure all five points. The Bulls have next week off with a rest weekend, but we travel to Syston on 12th October in an early season top-of-the-table clash.
