Sponsor Spotlight: JW Design & Build

Banbury RUFC is delighted to recognise the continued support of JW Design & Build, a local business whose connection to the club stretches back through generations of the Whitworth family.

Founded by former Banbury player James Whitworth, JW Design & Build represents a partnership that extends well beyond business sponsorship, reflecting a lifelong association with rugby and the local community.

James's memories of Banbury RUFC began at just five years old, sitting on his father Simon Whitworth's David Brown tractor while he mowed the pitches at the club's former grounds.

Those early experiences developed into a passion for rugby, with James representing Banbury before continuing his playing career at Lutterworth through the U15, U16 and Colts age groups. He subsequently moved to Dartmouth in Devon, where he continued playing until the age of 21.

Since returning to Banbury, James has remained a committed supporter of the club, initially through perimeter advertising sponsorship before extending his involvement to support the club's playing shirts.

Through JW Design & Build, working in partnership with Oxfordshire Oak Frames, James has established a business specialising in natural stone construction, traditional building techniques and oak-framed structures.

Their expertise includes the renovation and extension of listed buildings, alongside landscaping, driveways, lime mortar work and traditional wet and dry stone walling.

The business combines craftsmanship with an appreciation for heritage, delivering projects that respect traditional materials while meeting the needs of modern properties.

For James, supporting Banbury RUFC is an opportunity to give something back to a club that played such an important part in his early life.

Banbury RUFC is incredibly grateful to James and everyone associated with JW Design & Build for their continued loyalty, investment and commitment to the club.

Their support demonstrates the strength of the relationships built through rugby, with former players continuing to contribute to the club long after their playing careers have finished.
