Banbury RUFC are thrilled to announce Caity Mattinson as our Schools Rugby Manager following the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup

Banbury Rugby Union Football Club are extremely excited to announce that current Scotland International Caity Mattinson will be joining the club at the end of the Women’s Rugby World Cup as our Schools Rugby Manager.

Caity’s playing career includes (before the current WRWC) 33 Scotland Caps, including playing in the 2022 World Cup. She also played in the 2023 WXV2 when Scotland edged Italy on points to win, and played in the 2022 Commonwealth Games 7s tournament.

At club level, Caity has played Premiership Rugby from 2014 to date for DMP, Bristol Bears, Worcester Warriors and Ealing Trailfinders.

On her coaching career, Caity has said,
“I began coaching while I was at Exeter University, assisting with the 2nd XV Women & coaching multisports in primary schools around the area. From there, I moved to Canada for a season where I coached Westshore Valkyrie in the BC Premiership and British Columbia U18 girls. I returned to the UK and to Worcester Warriors in 2020, where I was a full-time community coach and an assistant coach in the junior academy programs. After the Warriors folded, I continued my coaching with the West Midlands academy before moving to Trailfinders and community coaching alongside my playing career. This season I’ll be coaching with Coventry Academy alongside my Banbury community role”.

She went on to say,
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining Banbury as a community coach. The club’s passion to provide as many opportunities as possible to young players and to grow the game is something I’m very proud to be involved with. With the Women’s Rugby World Cup going on at the moment, there’s never been a better time to inspire players to pick up a rugby ball and it’s really important we make the most of that opportunity. I can’t wait to get started.”

Matt Goode, BRUFC Director of Rugby, has said,
“Caity is the perfect person to grow our successful community program, and I have every confidence she will inspire the next generation of young rugby players. Her playing career speaks for itself; we are extremely proud to have a current International and World Cup player join us”.
