Club appoints General Manager as new era dawns.

Simon Grieve7 May 2015 - 09:44

Phil ‘Monty’ Montanaro has been appointed General Manager of Banbury Rugby Club with responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Club.

With the new Clubhouse rapidly approaching completion it is obvious to most that a new chapter in the Club’s proud history is just beginning. With that in mind, the Management Committee recently created the new part-time role of General Manager and Phil ‘Monty’ Montanaro was the successful applicant.

Monty has been associated with Banbury Rugby Club for over 25 years as a player, volunteer, Vice President and Committee Member. In 2011, Monty was awarded Honorary Life Presidency of the Club in recognition of his voluntary contributions, in particular as Membership and Social Secretary.

Monty’s new role will be wide ranging and will include management of the new Clubhouse facility and related events, marketing and public relations, rugby administration, community and third-party relations, finance, health & safety and security.

After 40 years in the IT industry Monty is seeking new challenges and relishes the prospect of playing a pivotal role in the next stage in the Club’s development. He said: “It’s been an honour to be involved with such a fantastic Club for so many years. In many ways General Manager will be my biggest challenge to date; I’m looking to combine the skills and experiences gained in industry with my passion for Rugby Union and to help Banbury Rugby Club kick-on to the next level.”

Please join us in congratulating Monty on his appointment and we’re sure he can rely on the full support of the Club Membership.
