Simon Grieve17 Apr 2016 - 11:27

Banbury Rugby Club have been chosen by the RFU to host the Cup Finals for their prestigious national competitions for Under 15 and Under 18 girls.

On Sunday 24th April Bodicote Park will be buzzing with excitement as the top girls rugby teams from across England will convene for the RFU’s National Cup Finals day.

The Club will be open from 10.00 am for spectators wishing to make an early start with hot snacks, teas & coffees available to purchase all day. Bodicote Park has ample parking around its perimeter and marshals will be on hand with directions.

The first Cup Final is for the Under 15 Girls competition where Newark RFC will play Winscombe RFC at 1.30 pm.

Next up will be the Cup Final for Under 18 Girls where Pulborough RFC will play Worcester RFC at 3.00 pm.

Both Cup Finals will be played on the Club's main pitch at Bodicote Park which enjoys covered grandstand seating for 300, plus easy access to a brand new Clubhouse that also has a viewing balcony.

Hard work by Keeli Wood – skipper of the famous ‘Banbury Belles’ Ladies side – and manager Jane Waddington has seen the Club secure this exciting event.

Keeli said; “I’m sure that hosting such a high-profile event will inspire the girls playing in our younger age-groups by showing just what they could achieve. Over this summer and next season we will be reaching out into the local schools community to highlight the social, fun and fitness benefits of girls playing rugby.”
