11. Author's thanks

I would like to thank Bryan Davies, Barrie Nichols and John Smith for all their help in researching the last twenty-five years for this book. Without all their records, newspaper cuttings, old programmes, fixture cards and menus etc. it would have been an impossible task. Perhaps the greatest asset of the club is in its membership continuity, this shines through my research. It is highlighted in the appointment of the president elect, Bob Mitchelmore, who will become the first son of a past ex President, to hold the post. Looking at the names of former presidents, I'm sure this is only the beginning in this direction. But for all that, there is no closed shop and after being on the periphery of the club for many years, but now having more time in the last few years to spend on, and with the club, I have found Banbury Rugby Club the most welcoming of clubs. And if any non-members or people with no rugby background read this book, I can honestly recommend you to join Banbury rugby Club. I apologise for missing some names, dedicated helpers or incidents from the history of the club, as I am bound to have done. Sadly while writing the book the former president Peter Grant died. Finally, I would like to thank Duns Tew Educational Services for the use of their facilities and my wife, Stephanie, for her patience and understanding.
